Hunger: A Cause of Global Instability

Her remarks explored the vicious cycle of conflict, climate change, and hunger—with examples from the World Food Programme's work to provide immediate life-saving humanitarian assistance as well as longer-term solutions to hunger and malnutrition. A key excerpt from her lecture is posted below.

About the Blog

Over the course of 2015 and 2016, the Global Futures Initiative invited the Georgetown University community to address four critical global issues: development, governance, security, and the environment.

During the spring 2016 semester this blog brought together Georgetown’s leading scholars in global security with faculty, students, and colleagues around the world for a conversation about security challenges facing humanity.

Georgetown is home to a number of security-related centers and programs in the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown College, and the Georgetown University Law Center. Among these are the Center for Security Studies, M.A. Program in Conflict Resolution, Mortara Center for International Studies, and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
